Step by Step of How to Tie a Corset
1
Thread the Top Eyelets
- Start at the very top of the dress.
- From inside the dress (lining side), push both ends of the lace outward through the top pair of eyelets.
- Pull both ends evenly so you have equal length on each side.
2
Begin the X Pattern
- Take the left lace & cross it over to the next eyelet down on the right side, threading it from inside to outside.
- Take the right lace & cross it over to the next eyelet down on the left side, threading it from inside to outside.
- This forms your first X.
3
Continue the X Pattern All the Way Down
- Keep crossing the laces in an X pattern down the back of the dress, always threading from inside to outside at each eyelet.
- After each cross, gently pull the laces to gradually tighten the dress, adjusting for comfort and fit as you go.
4
Tighten in Stages
- Once you reach halfway, go back up a few X’s, pulling to snug those sections, and then work your way down again.
- This helps distribute tension evenly and gives a cleaner, smoother fit.
5
Tie a Bow at the Bottom
- When you reach the final set of eyelets, adjust the overall tightness.
- Tie the laces into a secure bow at the bottom.
6
Tuck in the Remaining Lace
- Neatly tuck the remaining lace and bow inside the dress so that no loose ends hang out.
- This keeps the look polished and prevents any snagging or dangling laces.
